Campaigning SNP MP Alison Thewliss has accused the UK government of trying to sneak through its ‘medieval’ rape clause and pernicious two child policy without a vote or debate.

The rape clause refers to the government’s decision, announced in the 2015 July Budget, to limit tax credits to two children per family – with a couple of exceptions, one of which was if the third child had been conceived as a result of sexual violence.
