SOUTHALL BLACK SISTERS

  • 1842.png
Southall Black Sisters is a women’s organisation. We run a resource centre providing information, advice, advocacy, counselling and support to Black women and children. Most women approach us to escape domestic/gender violence.
Southall Black Sisters (SBS) was founded in 1979 to address the needs of black (Asian and Afro-Caribbean) women. It aims to empower women to escape poverty, violence, abuse and other restrictions on their lives which prevent them from asserting their human rights to freedom, equality and justice.
SBS runs an advice, resource, casework and advocacy centre. It provides a comprehensive and holistic service to women and children experiencing gender violence, particularly domestic violence, forced marriage, honour and dowry related crimes and related problems such as homelessness, matrimonial, welfare benefits, racism, immigration/asylum, suicide and depression.
